I don't know what it is about birch trees – the symmetry perhaps? But they make a great motif – for all seasons, really.
But particularly for winter/Christmas. I recoloured the tree image to make it more kraft and then with a bit of sepia to see which one printed out the best – turns out I liked em both!
And then I tried a similar design with Robocop. The sky is inked with a mixture of inks and sprinkled with water, a technique I’ve seen a lot just lately and the snow is just torn printer paper.
